Blogpost 1: Rapid Eye Movement Sleep

All people does have a dream of their own, this is what we most likely do in our sleep we

dream, but I always had this question in my mind "How do we create dreams?" and "Why is

that dreams are different from a real world?" this are the questions I have in mind. In our

sleep when we dream we can actually do whatever we want in our sleep which has the same

image in the real world but doesn't have any limitations at all, People can fly, dream of

someone, sexually, emotionally, and most of the time terrifying(nightmares) dreams are

even possible, further we'll get into it deeper and study how people dream or why do we

have a second world in our mind.

I have read an article from Medical News Today.Com about "REM(Rapid Eye

MovementSleep" written by Joseph Nordqvist, According to the article, Rapid eye

movement sleep or REM is one of the five stages of sleep that most people experience

nightly and it is characterized by quick, random movements of the eyes and paralysis of the

muscles. The amount of time spent in REM sleep varies significantly with age; it normally

makes up around 20-25% of an adult humans total time spent asleep(on average about 90-

120 minutes),and approximately 80% of a newborn's. People usually experience REM sleep

4 or 5 times a night which comes in cycles, the first cycle - which occurs at the beginning of

one's sleep - only last for a short time, with each following cycle being a little longer.

What I'm aware of is when we saw someone or any person that was sleeping and their

eyes are like moving while their eye lids are closed, that's what we call REM sleep. That

means that you are already in the state of the first stage of your dream and last for a short

period of time, but that is the most memorable dream that we had those short kind of

dreams. While in REM sleep, most of the muscles become paralyzed(sleep paralysis) and the

activity of our brain's neurons becomes quite intense, similar to the activity during our

wakefulness which most of the people had Vivid Dreams. Vivid dreams are dreams that you

remember as if it just happened. Typically, the most vivid dreams are the ones you have

during wakefulness. Although, sometimes if a dream has very significant relevance to

something important in your Life, you can experience it early on in dream state and still

have vivid memories of it upon waking.

I had so much dreams and never wonder why that actually happen and I never

thought that dreams had cycles and stages, which I really imagine how

your surrounding(real world) affects your dreams for a certain period of time, i actually

experienced this from a friend, that when he was sleeping I look at his eyes and it was

struggling like there's something bad happened behind those lids, I closed the lights 3 times

and wake him up. Upon waking he said he had a dream of someone standing in front of him,

the venue looks like a small room with a dining table(looks like a dinner for two at home) he

was dreaming of his loved one with him, the lights closed twice and the 3rd time the lights

opened He saw his ex-girlfriend about to kiss him, which I was looking at him by that time

while his asleep before I wake him up.

There really is a lot of things that could happen and while we are sleeping since it's our

brain intensely function while we sleep, its like our body is active its just that we do have our

own visual in our own mind, places might serve as and image of the emotions that we feel

which i really do believe in.
